This book was presented to the Collection by Mrs Irene Badsworth, in memory of her late husband. The price quoted is our estimate of its value.
The book has an Introduction by Professor Douglas Kellner.
In many ways, this is one of the most disturbing books that we have in the Collection. We did contemplate cataloguing it in our "Aftermath" category, as it was this period during which the book was published (in 1924).
But in the end, we decided that because, in some ways, it is a photo-reporting book, we should put it in the category for photography.
The images are often truly awful, and yet they record what happened during the war.
